Kandy View Point

Magic of Kandy right before your eyes

If you want to enjoy the amazing views over the lake and city of Kandy in a blink of an eye, there is Arthur’s Seat which is a breathtaking spot offering a high angle view of the mesmerizing beauty of the Kandy city. The Kandy View Point is located on the Rajapihilla Mawatha and is considered as the highest point in Kandy which stands 550 meters above sea level.

It is a must visit place for nature lovers and photography fans to capture unique photos and videos of the panoramic view of the breathtaking surroundings of Kandy. You can visit the view point at any time of the day but it is best during sunrise and sunset. The area is covered with trees like Nuga, Palm, Sal, Mara and various varieties of fruit trees. Many species of birds also can be spotted at the view point which includes Indian Cormorant, White Eegret Crane, Wood Storks and pelicans.

The Kandy View Point is located 1.7 Kilometers from the main city. The Arthur’s Seat area is full of street vendors selling arts and crafts where you can purchase a souvenir in remembrance of your visit to this magical spot in Kandy. If you want to taste a bit of adventure as you visit the Kandy View Point you should take the hike through the steep slopes which is only 1 kilometer on the way to Kandy viewpoint. Any visitor to the view point would want to relax and spend more and more time enjoying every bit of the magical view of Kandy.
