A skyscraper built by King Kanittha Tissa who ruled Sri Lanka from 192-194 AD is named as Rathnaprasada. It is a Uposatha house of the Abhayagiri Vihara complex and the bhikkus of Pansakulika sect resided there. The construction is one equal to Lovamahapaya but the two constructions belong to two different bhikku sects . The gigantic stone pillars remain even today provide evidence to guess the size of the construction of Rathnaprasada in its hay day. It seems not seconded to the Lovamahapaya.
The most beautiful and perfect guard stone of Anuradhapura era founds here. The guard stone at the inner entrance to the building is one of the best examples for the heritage of splendid stone carvings in Anuradhapura era. During the times of war the place got attacked and damaged but recovered by the kings protecting its originality.
